2026 Bluebird Lottery yields 12 winners!

By Shayne Mitchell

Our Bluebird Lottery is a game where you can submit an educated guess about which nest box location you think will produce fledged bluebirds by June 15.  We have twenty-one locations to choose from.  Correct guesses are rewarded with a chance to win a free membership and other prizes.  The contest takes place in the spring as bluebirds are making up their minds which nest box will be their nursery for the year.

This year we had 78 participants and two winning locations.  Twelve participants guessed correctly and won a free Landis Arboretum membership.  Each of these winners was then entered in a drawing for our fourteen grand prizes valued at more than $350.  Grand prizes included Apple Barrel gift certificates, bird feeders, bird food, credits toward Arboretum field trips and plant sales, and subscriptions to The Mountain Eagle/Schoharie News.  Whether you enjoyed the lottery this year or missed out on the fun, stay tuned.  We hope to do it again next Spring.
