Enjoy the beauty birds bring to the landscape! Join DOAS Volunteer, Judi Bogardus for a Mindful Birding experience on Saturday, August 1, 8:00 – 9:30 AM at Landis Arboretum in Esperance, NY. (174 Lape Rd, Esperance. The group will meet at the Visitor Center parking area). Registration is required at the link below.
The program starts with a short and easy walk on one of the trails, followed by a quiet sit at the Meditation Garden Pavilion. Whether you are new to birdwatching or you have years of experience, attendees will have the opportunity to reflect and enjoy the peacefulness of birds and nature. Participants can take the opportunity during this program to journal, sketch, or write, and use the beautiful surroundings at Landis as creative inspiration.
There is a Port-a-John on premises near the visitors center. Suggested items to bring: water, sun protection, bug spray, hat, journal, sketchbook, pencil, binoculars or camera, camp chair or lightweight portable seat. Dress for the weather. Be aware that ticks are plentiful this year.
The program is free, but a $5 per person donation to Landis Arboretum is appreciated.
About Our Leader:
Judi began birding as a child alongside her grandfather who always loved sharing his fascination with birds. She looks forward to the return of the Baltimore Orioles and the hummingbirds to our area each spring, and her “Spark Bird” is the Tufted Titmouse, still a favorite for her today. She has been fortunate to see many species throughout the continental United States while traveling with family. Judi is an active participant in Project FeederWatch and NestWatch with Cornell Lab or Ornithology and is currently interested in studies on Birds and Window Collision prevention.
Judi’s deep love of nature and the outdoors led her to Mindful Birding before it had a name or a following. She finds it to be a peaceful, beautiful escape from days that can be chaotic.
