Ice Dying
Ice Dying is an unpredictable way of dying natural fabrics. The powdered dyes break down to the individual colors that make up the dye colors by adding the water of melting ice.
In this class, each of you will be making one tea towel/ napkin. 28” x 28”. You will learn how to affect the patterns and colors, plus the products you need to produce your own ice dyed fabric, t-shirts and other pieces of clothing. The possibilities are endless.
You will need to bring a clean bucket or large container (1 foot or more deep) to transport wet fabric home. A hair dryer would be good if you want to speed up the melting process. Please wear dark old clothes and shoes. Students 10 years and older welcome (children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult). It’s a fun day for a group of friends or family. Maximum of 12 students; class will be cancelled with fewer than 5 registrants.
