Date: May 13, 2025

Time: 12:00 PM

Location: Meet at the Welcome Center

Registration: Registration: Members: Individuals $5, families $15; Non-members: $15, family $25.

Join us from 12:00 to 2:30 PM to walk Landis' Bluebird Trail.

Our Bluebird Trail consists of 44 nest boxes. These boxes are spread over a large area. The three species of birds that typically use our nest boxes are Eastern Bluebirds, Tree Swallows and House Wrens.  Our goal will be to visit 40 of the nest boxes and see each of these species up close. Along the way we’ll talk about birds, how to attract them to nest boxes, and anything else that crosses our minds.  Please be prepared for a 2.5-mile, 2+ hour hike, with some small hills.

Dress for the weather. Waterproof footwear and clothing appropriate for hiking through tall grass are recommended. You may also want to bring binoculars, camera, water and a snack.

Usually by this date, weather dependent, the first bluebird young should have hatched with others following soon, the swallows should be laying and incubating eggs, and the earliest wrens should have just started laying. With all three species busy nesting, the boxes should be approaching max capacity. Maximum 5 participants. Preregistration required.
